AUTUMN 2015 -TOP AUTUMN DECORATING TRENDS
As the weather gets colder and the days get shorter with the arrival of Autumn, it’s time to update your home décor as you would your wardrobe with a few simple touches. Give your home warmth this season with these beautiful and easy decorating ideas from luxury furniture company, Jusi Colour.
“There are so many great things that come with Autumn – they include decorating with gorgeous warm tones, adding throws to sofas, cosying up on comfy beanbags and making a statement with lighting,” says Sian Lancaster from Jusi Colour “Of course, we don’t have to completely redo our houses with the season change, but there are simple ways to bring an Autumnal feel into a home. This season it’s all about bringing the outdoors indoors with easy decorating tricks and making our space comforting,” says Sian.
Sian Lancaster’s top Autumn trends & expert tips:
BRING THE OUTDOORS INDOORS
Celebrating nature in its purest form is a new trend that showcases materials, such as, wood and stone in their ‘raw’ state. Many of us have wooden or wicker outdoor furniture that can be brought inside for Autumn, so why not bring it inside and give your home a rustic and organic feel? They’re durable and also come in a variety of colours from the lightest of neutrals to deep espresso browns and blacks.
ADD WARMTH WITH EARTHY TONES
In keeping with the season’s natural design trends, earthy warm tones dominate autumn home décor. Pair your furniture with comfortable cushions, such as, natural russety reds, vibrant oranges and cosy brown are fabulous that can be changed affordably with the season.
DECORATE WITH NATURE
It’s not only bunches of flowers that belong in vases. Next time you’re out for a walk, look out for fallen pinecones, interesting looking branches or even acorns. Use them as decoration in vases, along mantle-pieces or add them to bowls to create a wonderful autumnal display.
MAKE IT COSY
Enjoying a favourite TV series or sports match is the best way to spend an evening when the nights start drawing in earlier. Get cosy and enjoy the show on a gorgeous Mighty-B Beanbag.
PILE ON THE LAYERS
Keeping extra piles of soft and stylish throws close at hand – ready to be grabbed at any moment – will keep you cosy too. I just love woollen snits, heavy cottons and rustic linen fabrics for soft furnishings.
SET THE MOOD WITH LIGHTING
Getting your lighting right and any room will feel homely. Go for several small lamps instead of one main light and create a cosy ambience inside, while also use them to create atmosphere outdoors.
It maybe getting colder and darker, but it comes a lot of festive fun in the months ahead withHalloween just around the corner and Christmas soon upon us! You can get into the festive spirit and create a party mood with striking LED colour lights and Wine bottle coolers that make a stylish statement and can be used in every season.
Have fun with your lightiing this Autumn and Winter!!
SUMMER 2015 - HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR OUTDOOR SPACE THIS SUMMER
In the heat of summer, there’s no better place to keep your cool than a comfy chair in the garden and outdoor living spaces have come a long way from folding chairs and flimsy plastic tables.
However, when it comes to decorating outdoor spaces it’s quite common for people to get overwhelmed and with many not knowing where to start.
At Jusi Colour, we offer a personalised service where we work with a wide range of clients to create the perfect social outdoor space where they can eat and drink in the open air, take a catnap in the sun, or simply enjoy the view in style.
I always recommend thinking of an outdoor space like a room - so use furniture and fabrics appropriate for outdoor wear and tear but then layer in more comfortable accents like cushions, throw pillows and even a rug.
Try and pick a style that works with your home. If it’s minimal and modern, then the garden furniture should be too. On the other hand if your home is more classical, then opt for some timeless classically styled furniture.
It is important to choose the right furniture, textiles and materials that not only match the style of the home, but also withstand the British elements and leave a lasting impression for years into the future.
Here are some of my other top outdoor design trends & tips for a stylish summer:
EMBRACE THE ULTRA-MODERN
Watch for midcentury modern styling in outdoor pieces to coordinate with this popular interior style. Beautiful on an urban terrace, these pieces are chic and sophisticated, with tailoring details on upholstery and elegant finishes
While dedicated dining areas remain popular outdoors, there's also a trend toward ‘chat and chill’ configurations of furniture. Indoor-style seating includes comfy lounge chairs and sectional pieces that can be grouped or separated, with ottomans, side tables and coffee tables that can also be used for casual dining.
The trend in Europe is toward natural colours that mimic nature and won’t fade in the harsh sunlight. Greys, taupes and creams are right on trend. Subtle yet sophisticated, their versatility makes them a great choice whatever the climate and enable you to add colour with furnishings.
CREATE A FOCAL POINT WITH LED LIGHTING
LED furniture and accessories are right on trend this year. Creating focal points, emphasising an area, or lining a pathway, these pieces are used as accents in innovative and creative ways to enhance the space and create atmosphere.
Environmental concerns such as awareness of how deforestation impacts climate change and the effects of toxic finishes have led furniture buyers to demand green furniture. Responsible manufacturers are transitioning into greener resources and ways of production.
MAKE A STATEMENT
There’s a trend towards more refined silhouettes. A sleeker, lighter look is particularly enhanced in the soft curves of wire furniture. Think of a sand dune, a shell or the perfect wave – these are the forms and the shapes that designers are introducing this year. Instead of the angular lines seen in previous furniture designs, we are now seeing a movement towards much more fluid, organic shapes that mimic the contours of the body and the contours of nature.
SWAY IN THE BREEZE
Outdoor spaces, should boast furniture that adds a designer touch. Embrace the retro feel with an egg chair or a hanging chair, swaying in the breeze. Including accent pieces in the outdoor space gives an instant sense of luxury and resort style living.
BLEND INDOORS & OUTDOORS
By forging a strong connection between indoors and outdoors can make your home feel more expansive and light filled, and can encourage flow between indoor and outdoor rooms. Ideal locations for indoor-outdoor furniture include covered or enclosed patios, gazebos and sunrooms.
Enjoy your summer!
